Affiliate disclosure
Breathalyzer is supported by readers who buy through our links. This page explains plainly how that works, how our links are marked, and the rules we follow so that commissions never shape what we recommend.
Our Amazon Associates statement
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
In practice this means that when you click a link from our site to Amazon and then buy a qualifying product within the period Amazon allows, Amazon pays us a commission. The commission comes out of Amazon's revenue. You do not pay anything extra, and the price you see on Amazon is the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly.
Next to every group of Amazon buttons on the site you will see this short reminder: "We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you."
How our affiliate links work
Every "Check price on Amazon" button on Breathalyzer is an affiliate link. Before it reaches Amazon, the click passes through a short redirect on our own domain. That redirect records which page and which model the click came from, so we can see which guides are useful to readers. It does not record your name or email address.
- Each affiliate link carries our Amazon Associates tag, which is how Amazon knows the visit came from us.
- Each affiliate link is marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, as search engines ask for paid or commission-based links.
- Links to manufacturer websites and specification documents are ordinary links without a tag, and we earn nothing from them.
- Once you arrive on Amazon, Amazon's own terms, privacy notice and cookies apply.
Commissions do not influence our rankings
Our rankings are built on published specifications and on how well a device fits a specific use case. The commission rate on a product plays no part in where it appears. We regularly place a budget or mid-range tester above a premium one when it suits the job better, and we point readers toward simpler devices when an expensive model would be more than they need.
We do not accept payment from manufacturers or sellers for placement, inclusion, a better verdict or a review. We do not accept free products in exchange for coverage. Our full method is described on how we review breathalyzers.
Why we do not show prices
You will not find dollar amounts for the products we link to anywhere on this site. Amazon prices change often, sometimes several times a day, and differ between sellers and offers. A number we printed could be wrong by the time you read it, and Amazon's rules for associates restrict how prices may be shown.
Instead we describe price levels in words, such as budget, mid-range, premium and professional, and the button takes you to Amazon where the current price is shown. Always check the final price, the seller and the return terms on Amazon before you buy.
Other relationships and sponsored content
Breathalyzer does not publish sponsored articles, advertorials or paid reviews. We do not display third-party advertising banners. If that ever changes, any sponsored content will be labeled clearly on the page where it appears, and it will never be presented as an editorial review.
